They also were unharmed. <br />Police said they recovered a black hat in the 700 block of 12th Street NE that they believe belonged to the assailant. <br />Investigators said Guillen told them that he and his girlfriend routinely use the Money Mart to cash checks and send money home to relatives. <br />Cmdr. Diane Groomes of the 1st District said robberies are common in the area but have diminished recently because of increased foot patrols. She called the robbery a "crime of opportunity," adding that the assailant apparently watched the woman enter the store. <br />Police urged anyone with information to call 2027279099.
